Pat's Flash Facts: Proper Fertilizer Application

  • Posted on:  Friday, 02 May 2014

Flash Fact: Without getting too scientific, the overabundance or use of certain fertilizers can cause your lawn and plants to decline or look burnt because they may be too rich in one (or more) macronutrient: Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium. Imagine your lawn is on a healthy diet, if it binge eats certain nutrients then it is not going to have room for the 18 other essential micronutrients it needs to properly survive. This will leave your landscape "craving" specific nutrients which will be expressed in certain ways depending on the nutrients that are in short supply (this is especially true on plants, shrubs and flowers).
